Introduction to Chinese Tourists


From the moment we left London, around 80% of tourists we saw were Chinese, even in Moscow, St Petersberg, and far flung Lake Baikal. Upon reaching China, the numbers obviously sky rocketed, far beyond anything either of us had experienced on our previous trips to China. It is no coincidence, with Beijing encouraging huge investment in tourist sites, new airports, and transport infrastructure. The government's current goal is to increase the amount of money spent by Chinese domestic tourists to £570bn per year by 2020, which only serves to prove that China doesn't need or even necessarily want foreign tourists.
